Leeds-born sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun is one of Britain’s leading voices in the Indian Classical tradition. His music complements the ancient traditions of raags with contemporary compositional techniques to create sparklingly cinematic music for sitar and strings.
In this collaborative performance the Scottish Ensemble and Jasdeep will spin a musical tale. Driven by the beautiful spontaneity of the Indian Classical tradition, you’ll be transported through layers of mesmerising melody.
Along the way, you’ll experience music from Jasdeep’s Anomaly album, Western classical string repertoire, and the Manchester première of a new work by Jasdeep.
This performance also marks the beginning of a new relationship between the RNCM and Jasdeep. Becoming an Artist-in-Residence, he will embark on a two-year journey with staff and students to explore the synthesis of different music traditions.
