What do London’s Village Underground in 2022 and the home of Archeduke Rudolf in Vienna in 1824 have in common? Both places give you the opportunity to hear Schubert’s Octet the way it was meant to be enjoyed: in a relaxed atmosphere with friends, laughter, and drinks.
Schubert’s Octet is commonly regarded as one of the greatest examples of chamber music, and audiences often sit in rapturous silence when listening to the piece. We want you to experience this wonderful work without any of those modern-day inhibitions. Our musicians will be seated in the centre of the venue to ensure you are able to have an up close and personal experience of the music. Between the movements, our players will speak about the piece or improvise and, as an alternative to our usual ‘roaming’ tickets, the musicians will swap places with each other so even from one seat you’ll get to enjoy different soundscapes.
Join us at the Village Underground to discover the beauty of Schubert’s Octet in our contemporary version of a traditional Vienna salon.
