A body rebels in power, in protest, in tenderness.
quiet walls of flame by Lola de la Mata explores the tension between a female performer, her body and the gaze that holds it. This new work for voice, electronics and sculptural garment touches on themes of chronic illness, trauma and somatic memory.
Performing in the round, vocalist Rosie Middleton duets with and is cocooned by a suspended sculpture. Her voice mimics echolocation, mapping the space and the people within it. Performer and audience inhabit the same space, awakening new sensibilities around agency and vulnerability in this intimate work.
